The Client
Shahan Persian grill is a newly opened, high-end Persian grill bringing a rich culinary heritage to the heart of Heaton Moor. Derived from the Persian word for “Kings,” the restaurant’s core mission is to pair time-honoured, authentic Persian flavours with legendary hospitality that treats every single diner like royalty.
The Brief
The client approached our Heaton Moor studio needing a distinct, regal visual identity that honoured their heritage while fitting seamlessly into the vibrant local dining scene.
They required a master logo adaptable for storefront signage, menus, and staff workwear, specified in a striking black and gold palette. Following the logo rollout, we were tasked with designing and printing their complete menu suite, including main food, drinks, and dessert menus, that reflected the physical ambiance of the restaurant.
The Outcome
By aligning their visual branding with the exceptional quality of their kitchen, Shahan launched with massive impact. The cohesive brand identity, from the street-level signage to the tactile menu experience, helped generate immediate community buzz, leaving the restaurant fully booked for weeks following its grand opening.
What we delivered
The Logo & Identity
To capture the essence of “Shahan,” we explored traditional Persian typography and royal iconography.
The final mark features a custom, high-contrast serif logotype where fluid curves interlock gracefully between the letterforms.
Perched majestically above the central ‘A’ is an intricate Persian crown, blending historic royal heritage with sleek, modern elegance.

Custom Woodcut Illustrations
The restaurant had already captured local attention with a vibrant floral display crawling up its exterior.
To bring this physical detail into their print materials, we created a custom, Persian-inspired woodcut illustration of the building, selectively highlighting the colourful doorway florals.
Bespoke Menu Suite
We extended the woodcut style across the main food, drinks, and dessert menus, creating decorative pomegranate corner motifs, paying homage to a cornerstone ingredient of Persian cuisine, to frame the clean, scannable typographic menu layouts.
