The Client

Rotec Alarms is an independent, family-run security company based in Cheadle, installing and maintaining alarm systems, CCTV and security lighting for homes and businesses across Greater Manchester, Stockport, Cheshire, Tameside, Trafford and Salford. Founded in 1991 by Mark Rowe, who still works as an engineer alongside running the business, Rotec has spent more than three decades building a reputation on honesty, no monthly fees and engineers who are actually on the payroll rather than subcontracted in.

The Brief

Rotec had the track record but not the website to show for it. Their existing site didn’t reflect the quality of the work, made it hard for a homeowner to understand what Rotec actually installs, and did nothing with the thing the business had in abundance: hundreds of genuinely excellent customer reviews.
They needed a site that would do three things: look as professional as the service they deliver, explain their range of systems clearly enough that a homeowner could picture the solution for their own property, and make it obvious how to get a free quote without hunting for a phone number.

The Outcome

The new site gives a thirty-year-old business a presence that matches its reputation. Homeowners can now see exactly what Rotec install, from perimeter shock sensors to smart CCTV, before they pick up the phone, and their outstanding review scores are visible from the first screen rather than buried on a testimonials page.

Just as importantly, it gave Rotec a foundation to market from. With clear service pages, on-page SEO built in from the start and a blog to publish into, the site now supports the search and paid campaigns we run for them — so the work we did on the build keeps paying back rather than sitting still.

Our Approach

Products first, jargon second

Security is a category where customers don’t know what they need. We structured the site around the four things Rotec actually sell: home security systems, CCTV and video verification, LED security lighting, and annual servicing. We wrote each page so a homeowner can recognise their own situation in it, rather than wading through spec sheets.

Show the kit

Rather than describing systems abstractly, we built the service pages around the products Rotec genuinely install: the RISCO LightSYS platform, Ring video doorbells, and pet-friendly perimeter detectors. So prospective customers can see what will end up on their wall.

Let the reviews do the talking

Rotec’s review scores across Google, Facebook, Yell and Trust A Trader are the strongest sales asset they have. We surfaced them prominently and sitewide instead of hiding them on a single page, so trust is established before anyone reads a word of sales copy.

An easy first step

Every page offers a clear Call To Action: a free, no-obligation survey and quote. The enquiry form asks for a postcode and enquiry type so Rotec can triage a service call from a new installation the moment it lands, and the phone number stays visible for anyone with a system already going off.

What we delivered

Web Design

Built on WordPress, the new site is structured around how customers actually shop for security.

As with all our websites, on-page SEO was implemented from the start with structured page titles, descriptions and location targeting across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

  • A confident homepage that leads with what Rotec do, where they cover, and the review scores that back it up
  • Real product detail, featuring the systems Rotec install, so customers know what they’re getting
  • Aggregated review ratings pulled in from Google, Facebook, Yell and Trust A Trader as sitewide social proof
  • Four dedicated service pages: home security systems, CCTV & video verification, LED security lighting, and annual servicing & maintenance. Each written for a homeowner rather than an engineer
  • An About page introducing Mark, Mary and the engineering team. Important for a business whose whole pitch is that you deal with the same people every time
  • A smart enquiry form capturing postcode and enquiry type, plus a clickable phone number on every page
  • A blog, giving Rotec somewhere to publish security advice and seasonal crime-prevention content that supports their search rankings

Print

Word of mouth has always driven Rotec’s growth, so we designed and printed a set of refer-a-friend cards for engineers to hand out on completed jobs, turning a satisfied customer into a warm introduction.

We also produced marketing leaflets, designed to sit alongside the site’s look and feel so the brand holds together on the doorstep as well as on screen.

Microsoft 365

We set up Microsoft 365 for the team, moving Rotec onto professional branded email with shared calendars and cloud file storage — a small change that makes a family business look and operate like a much larger one, and keeps enquiries from the website landing somewhere reliable.

Ongoing SEO & Google Ads

The relationship didn’t end at launch. We now manage Rotec’s search engine optimisation and Google Ads, targeting the homeowners actively searching for alarm installation across Stockport, Manchester and Cheshire, building organic visibility for the long term while paid campaigns keep the enquiries coming in the meantime.
